WINE SCHOOL: Spanish Wines

This class will guide you through multiple renowned regions offering a unique opportunity to explore Spain's vinous heritage.You’ll learn about the history, production methods, and distinctive characteristics of various Spanish grape varieties. We’ll be sipping through wines from Rías Baixas, well known for crisp and aromatic Albariño. Cava, Spain's celebrated sparkling wine, hails primarily from Catalonia and is produced using traditional methods, offering a refreshing profile with fine bubbles and flavors of green apple, pear, and brioche. Rioja, one of Spain's most famous wine regions, is known for its exceptional red wines, predominantly made from Tempranillo, with rich flavors of dark berries, plum, and hints of vanilla from oak aging. Jumilla, located in southeastern Spain, is celebrated for its robust and full-bodied Monastrell wines, which deliver intense flavors of black fruit, spice, and earthy undertones. Each of these regions contributes uniquely to Spain's diverse wine landscape, offering distinctive tastes that cater to various palates.

Instructor Bio:

Victoria is originally from Montréal, Canada and recently moved to the Upper Valley from Southern California. An avid traveler, Victoria has always prioritized world renowned wine regions throughout her adventures. Victoria most recently spent 4 months living abroad in Spain, where she was able to venture to a few nearby wine regions including Rioja, Cava and Porto. She spent the 2022 Harvest in the Rhône Valley, France, assisting an organic and biodynamic vineyard in winemaking production. She recently completed her Level 3 Wine & Spirits Education Trust Certification and is currently pursuing the WSET Diploma. In her spare time you can find her watching documentaries, attempting to bake, or crafting!
