About the Instructor, Putnam’s Master Gardener, Lia

Lia has always been fascinated by nature. After growing up in Colorful Colorado, she found herself in the Adirondacks and fell in love with the Northeast; the lifestyle, the millions of mountains and lakes, and the flora/fauna surrounding them. While traveling and cooking in Alaska, Montana and Telluride, Lia learned a deeper sense of appreciation for the plants surrounding her, and often found herself wishing she knew more about them. This curiosity turned into a hobby, identifying plants for fun, and from there, a full-blown need to know everything about them. She decided to leave seasonal life and settle down in the beautiful Connecticut River Valley. Here, she became Certified in Sustainable Landscape Design and eventually became a Master Gardener for the state of Vermont. Devoted to her craft, she spends her summers gardening and teaching here at Putnam’s Vineyard or in the White Mountains, where she enjoys kayaking and birding.

Lia plans to continue learning about the world around her for many years to come, and hopes you will join her on this journey!

While traveling and cooking in Alaska, Montana and Telluride, Lia learned a deeper sense of appreciation for the plants surrounding her. Garden of the Moon Workshop: Inner Seasons, Inner Wisdom

Join, Em, of Garden of the Moon for a special workshop - Inner Seasons, Inner Wisdom. Part workshop, part sister-sharing circle (because weaving the web of our story threads is incredible medicine). Inner Seasons, Inner Wisdom workshop is a deep exploration of merging the mystical & the menstrual. We will explore how Earth-based, seasonal wisdom can guide women in their monthly hormonal flow as they navigate a new relationship to "that time of the month.” By looking at the menstrual cycle as just that—a cycle—and exploring the energetic gifts & guidance that each phase possesses, we can begin to rewrite the narrative about what it means to embrace your bleed time and reclaim your body’s wisdom through powerful feminine cyclical archetypes and herbal allies.

Instructor Bio:

Herb nerd, word witch, astrology geek and mildly successful plant-mom, Em is the founder of Garden of the Moon — an herbal wellness brand that weaves the wisdom of feminine archetypes and plant medicine into teas, ritual, and self-care. She is also the co-author of the Sacred Cycles Oracle Deck and Journal. Through herbal teas designed for each of the four phases of the female fertility cycle, alongside education and inspiring rituals that work with the Wheel of the Year, Garden of the Moon was created to help women come home to their bodies and embrace the many faces of the feminine archetypes mirrored back to them through nature.

WINE SCHOOL: The Many Faces of Chardonnay

Wine School: The Many Faces of Chardonnay

Chardonnay is one of the most versatile and widely planted grape varieties in the world, known for its ability to express a range of styles and flavors depending on where it’s grown and how it’s vinified. In this class, we will sip on four different wines to explore the many faces of Chardonnay and learn how different winemaking techniques and vessels influence its flavor, texture, and overall profile. By understanding these factors, we can better appreciate the diverse expressions of Chardonnay. Whether it's the rich, buttery notes from oak aging or the fresh, zesty flavors from stainless steel fermentation, each approach creates a unique face of Chardonnay that reflects the skill of the winemaker and the characteristics of the region.

We’ll be sipping on:

Domaine Passy Le Clous Petit Chablis, 2022

Crossbarn Sonoma Coast Chardonnay, 2023

Matthiason Napa Valley Chardonnay, 2022

Sean Minor Sonoma Coast Chardonnay, 2021

Tickets are non-refundable, but they are transferable between friends! You can view our Cancellation Policy here.

STAGE RES: P's MEET UP: Shut Up & Write!(TM) Upper Valley

Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 11am on Sundays at Putnam's Vine/yard. RSVP here.

Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done around other people doing the same thing.

What Should I Bring?

Whatever you need to be able to write!

Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the overhead music or the conversation by other patrons.

GUIDELINES:

Space is limited so registration will be required. Link to register is coming soon.

SCHEDULE

10:30 - 10:45 - Arrive, get set up and make quick introductions

10:45 - Timer starts: write for 1 hour

11:45 - The End: chat, take off, or keep writing

OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.

BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check in with us after the session. If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer. Also feel free to sit elsewhere if you'd like and touch base with us at the end.

Happy writing and we look forward to seeing you there!

WHAT IS SHUT UP AND WRITE?

Shut Up & Write hosts free in-person and online writing events for writers all over the world. Our goal is to ensure that every writer, regardless of genre or skill level, has access to the community, accountability, and resources they need to be successful in their personal writing goals. Our events use our proven formula: a few minutes of introductions, an hour of focused writing, and a final check-in to share the hour's progress.

Meet our Master Gardener:

Lia has always been fascinated by nature. After growing up in Colorful Colorado, she found herself in the Adirondacks and fell in love with the Northeast. While traveling and cooking in Alaska, Montana and Telluride, Lia learned a deeper sense of appreciation for the plants surrounding her.
